10-Year Structural Warranty

Last updated: Oct 31, 2026

Our 10-year structural commitment

SolidBins stands behind the structure of every enclosure we build. Your SolidBins product is covered by a 10-year structural warranty against qualifying defects and failures that affect its intended structural function: the frame, the hinges and the way the enclosure is built.

We offer this warranty because we are confident in the quality, durability and construction of our products. It is focused on structure. It is not a promise to cover every component, every cosmetic issue or every consumable part, and this policy tells you plainly where those limits are.

Warranty period and who is covered

The warranty runs for 10 years starting on the date your product was delivered.

At a glance

Warranty period10 years from the date of delivery
CoveredMain structural components, structural construction, hinges and their attachment points, and manufacturing defects or premature failures that affect structural function
Not coveredGas struts, cosmetic damage from external impact, accidental or intentional damage, and problems caused by improper installation or inadequate support
How we fix a covered failureWe supply the replacement component. If it is discontinued, unavailable or cannot reasonably be supplied, we supply a complete replacement product

The warranty protects the original purchaser. If you bought the product for installation at someone else's property, for example as a builder, contractor or developer, the warranty also protects the owner of that property for the remainder of the warranty period. In either case, we will ask for your order number or other proof of purchase when you make a claim.

What the warranty covers

A qualifying defect or failure is one in materials or workmanship, or a premature failure of a covered component, that affects the product's intended structural function. The warranty covers:

  • Main structural components. The frame, panels and other load-bearing parts that give the enclosure its shape and strength.
  • Structural construction. The way the product is assembled and joined, including the welds, joints and fasteners that form part of the original build.
  • Hinges and their attachment points. The hinges themselves and the structural points where they connect to the enclosure.
  • Qualifying manufacturing defects and premature structural failures. Any defect or early failure in a covered component that compromises the structural function of the product.

The warranty applies to genuine structural and manufacturing defects. Damage caused by outside circumstances is dealt with under “What the warranty does not cover” below.

Gas struts are not covered

We want you to know this before you buy, so we state it here in the main body of the policy: gas struts are not covered by the 10-year structural warranty.

Gas struts are movable mechanical components that wear and gradually lose pressure with use, much like the struts on a car hatch. For that reason we treat them as wear parts rather than structural components.

Your enclosure is designed to remain fully usable without working gas struts. The struts make the lid easier to lift and control, but if they weaken or fail the enclosure keeps its structural strength, and you can still open it by hand and use your bins. A worn strut does not affect the structural function this warranty protects.

Please do not rely on this warranty for gas strut replacement.

How we resolve a covered claim

When you report a failure, we review it and decide on the appropriate remedy. Our aim is to restore your product's intended structural function without you having to buy a whole new enclosure.

  1. Replacement component. If a covered component has failed, we will supply the replacement component at no charge for the component itself.
  2. Complete replacement product. If the affected component is discontinued, unavailable or cannot reasonably be supplied, we will supply a complete replacement product. If your model is no longer available, we will supply a comparable model.

A replacement does not restart the warranty. Coverage continues for the remainder of the original 10-year period. We may ask you to keep the failed component, or to return it, so we can inspect it.

These are the remedies this warranty provides. The warranty does not itself provide cash refunds, compensation, or payment for labour, installation, transportation or other incidental costs. Separately, consumer protection and sale of goods law may give you additional remedies in some situations. Nothing in this warranty limits those remedies.

Installation and proper use

The warranty is intended for products that have been installed and used as designed. Your product should:

  • Be installed according to the installation instructions supplied with it.
  • Sit on an appropriate, stable, level and structurally sound base.
  • Be properly supported and, where required, anchored.
  • Be used for its intended purpose, as described in our product information and instructions.
  • Be reasonably maintained, in line with any care instructions we supply.

Why this matters. An enclosure is only as sound as what it stands on. A base that is uneven, soft or shifting puts constant twisting force on the frame, hinges and joints, and that stress can cause failures that have nothing to do with how the product was built. Correct installation and a solid foundation keep the structure square and the load evenly carried, which is what allows it to perform for years.

We apply these conditions fairly. If an installation or support issue did not cause or contribute to a failure, it does not affect your claim for that failure.

What the warranty does not cover

The warranty does not cover damage or failure that is caused by:

  • Accidental damage or impact, such as a vehicle strike, a fallen tree or branch, or a dropped load.
  • Intentional damage, vandalism or misuse.
  • Improper installation, including not following the supplied instructions.
  • Inadequate supporting foundations, supports or anchoring.
  • Negligence, or use outside the product's intended purpose.

The warranty also does not cover:

  • Cosmetic damage caused by external impact or handling, including scratches, chips, scuffs, paint damage and dents.
  • Normal wear and tear of excluded components, including gas struts.

How we tell the difference. A covered defect comes from how the product was made, for example a failed weld, a faulty hinge or a flawed panel that gives way under normal use. An excluded failure comes from something that happened to the product or from how it was installed or used. When you make a claim, we review your information and photos and tell you which category we believe applies, and why.

If you notice a finish problem that was present when your product was delivered, please report it promptly under our Returns, Refunds and Exchanges Policy.

These exclusions describe the limits of this warranty only. They do not limit any rights you have under consumer protection law.

How to make a warranty claim

We keep the process simple.

  1. Contact us. Email info@solidbins.ca as soon as you notice a problem. Prompt reporting helps us assess the issue accurately and prevents further damage.
  2. Send the details. Include your order number, a description of the problem and when you first noticed it, and clear photos of the problem, the whole enclosure and the base it sits on. If you have the installation date or details, include them. Send what you have; you do not need to wait to collect everything.
  3. We review. We may ask for more photos or information, and in some cases we may ask to inspect the failed component.
  4. We respond. We tell you our decision and the remedy we propose. If we cannot approve a claim, we explain why.
  5. We arrange the remedy. For a covered claim, we arrange the replacement component or, where applicable, the replacement product.

Please keep any failed component until we confirm what we need.

Your legal rights

This warranty is an additional, voluntary promise from SolidBins. It is in addition to, and does not replace or limit, the rights you have under federal and provincial consumer protection and sale of goods laws. Those rights apply whether or not you make a warranty claim, and they cannot be removed by this warranty.

If any part of this policy conflicts with a right you have under applicable law, the law applies and the rest of this policy continues to apply.
